HOUSE-BREAKING ALERT

The Lenasia South police has issued an urgent call to the community about the increasing level of house breaking and theft of electrical appliances.

Inspector Mpho Kgasoane told SOUTHERN GLOBE: “The police have over the past few months received several cases of house breaking where criminals usually break into the house and steal electrical appliances that include television sets, DVD players, micro ovens, fridges, music systems, and laptops”. The police advises the community to note and carry out a few important safety tips. Keep records of the serial numbers of their appliances as this might assist during police investigations. Kgasoane said, “We urge the community to always lock their doors even when they are at home, and the main doors must be fitted with string locks as most incidents take place while the people are at work”. “Residents should ask neighbours to keep an eye on their premises when they are not available and always insist on seeing identification cards of those who claim to be government officials,” she added.

Kgasoane highlighted, “We also encourage the community members to keep on reporting all the criminal activities happening around our area by phoning the Lenasia South police on 011-855-1013”.
