Courts support the community again as alleged dealers denied bail for the 12th time

The bail application of the six alleged Lenasia drug dealers was heard on Friday, 11 December at the Gauteng South High Court where bail was denied again.

The matter is still scheduled for trial where the six accused will make their 13th court appearance to date - between 15 February - 26 March 2010. The accused appeared at the Lenasia Magistrate Court where bail was denied 12 times and have appealed once at the Gauteng South High Court.

Community for Humanity spokesperson, Nazar Loonat told SOUTHERN GLOBE: ‘’This an affirmation of the hard work put in by members of NPA, SAPS and the community at large. ‘’
‘’It is an indication that the war against drugs can be won if the community takes a collective stand together instead of the current situation where we have a few standing up,’’ he added.

Loonat said that it was symbolic that the justice system is working in the peoples favour and this should kick-start a new process where more people can join in the fight against drugs. ‘’Vigilance must increase,’’ he highlighted.

According to Loonat, massive campaigns are being designed for the New Year to continue the fight against drugs.
